The 2023 MLB season continues to haunt the New York Yankees. While they have continued to struggle with their inconsistent on-field performances, they have also faced several injuries. One of the major blows for them was the injury to Captain Aaron Judge. The Slugger revealed on Saturday that he still feels pain when trying to walk after he tore a ligament in his toe.

The Reigning American League MVP has been sidelined since early June. He got injured when he barged into a fence at the Dodger Stadium to complete a catch. He was initially placed on a two-day injured list. The injury has, however, been worse than originally expected. Judge later informed that he has no timeline set for his return.

I’m not giving you any timeline,” Judge told the media. He explained this by labeling how unique the injury is. He admitted that he feels pain when he tries to walk. His injury and absence could prove to be a fatal blow to his team’s season. The Yankees have been suffering offensively, and with Judge out for a while, things look slump for the NY franchise.

When asked about this update, Manager Aaron Boone also declined to offer comments on Judge’s return. Boone simply mentioned that he expects Judge to be back this season but will not guarantee it. Judge, who missed a few games back in April, is a key figure in the Yankee lineup. In the 27 games without him, the team is 11-16.

Aaron Judge has become a marquee name in baseball. The Yankee captain had one of the best seasons of his career last year when he managed to hit 62 home runs. He picked off the season where he left the last one, homering in his first at-bat of the season. This season Judge has batted with an average of .291 with 19 home runs.

This stat is unlikely to change for a while now. With his return uncertain, many fear that the season is over for the Yankees. As per health officials, a ligament tear in the toe likely takes two months to recover. While there is no official confirmation regarding this, the earliest Judge can return is the first week of August.

As a potential Aaron Judge return is shrouded with uncertainty, several fans were upset they won’t be able to see their favorite player in action.

The NY Yankees will now have to find a way to deal with this alarming situation. Though they are currently 42-35, the lead at the top of the AL East looks surmountable. The worrying sign has been the form of other batters. Experienced players like Giancarlo Stanton, Anthony Rizzo and Gleyber Torres have not lived up to the expectations. Meanwhile, the duo of Anthony Volpe and Jake Bauers, who impressed at the start, have gone quiet as well.
