MLB umpire Pat Hoberg gets a applauded for a “perfect game” in Game 2 of the World Series. Admiration was showered all over the media for the feat he accomplished, even the MLB fans were aware of this moment while watching the match.

A perfect game with no wrong calls is hard to do. According to Umpire Scorecards, Hoberg perfectly called out 89 balls and 40 strikes throughout Saturday’s match. Currently, he is considered ‘the most accurate umpire this season.’ The World Series match was against the Philadelphia Phillies and Houston Astros on Saturday, with the Astros celebrating their triumph.

Fans for different reasons had their eyes glued on the event, for them to miss out on a perfect call day. Even Astros southpaw Framber Valdez nor, Phillies ace Zack Wheeler accomplished such a feat in the Astros’ 5-2 victory, to what Hoberg accomplished behind the plates.

This World Series match was a first for Hoberg who participated as a replay umpire in 2021 and a reserve umpire for Game 1. Apart from social media, San Fransisco Giants third baseman, Evan Longoria congratulated him stating, “the best all year”, and someone who “showed up when it mattered.”

As noted from Umpire Scorecards, Hoberg has a rating of 95.5 percent, a perfect score rating. Baseball fans are celebrating this moment as his perfect call has made all baseball fanatics praise him. He only missed 1 call where he called a ‘strike’, as a ‘ball’, earlier in the season.

Hoberg made a comment to the Des Moines Register, “Getting the call is one thing”. “I have to go out and perform now and do it to the best of my ability and hopefully that happens and we get through the whole series.”

As expected from the Astros, the team jumped at the start of the game to take an early lead against the Phillies. Before Wheeler made his contact with the ball, the first three batters each doubled, while making two runs. Unlike Game 1 the team held on and pushed the lead to 5-0, marking their victory.
