4x All-Star Xander Bogaerts signs BLOCKBUSTER $280 million 11-year deal with Padres, MLB Twitter reacts
Xander Bogaerts
San Diego Padres relieved after hooking the “X – Man”, Xander Bogaerts to an 11-year contract. Even though the Padres lineup is crawling with star players, the team was still successful in luring the 4x All-Star winner for a $280 million offer.
He terminated his previous relationship of $120 million for a 6-year deal, forfeiting salaries of $20 million for the next 3 years. Xander was one of the best in the market and he along with Aaron Judge has now been booked for several years to come. Though, shortstop Dansby Swanson and Carlos Correa are still available in the market.
The Padres were also a part of the Aaron Judge race, especially after missing out on Trea Turner. Thankfully their shortstop hole could be filled with Xander playing on the field. While playing with Boston Red Sox, the X- Man made a record of .292 hitters, 156 homers, and 683 RBIs in 10 league seasons.

Xander Bogaerts rejected his former teams offer to join the Padres for next 11-year
He’s been with the team since his debut on the MLB field, debuting in 2013. in 2019, Xander Bogaerts went on to bat .309 career-best of 33 homers and 117 RBIs, and 23 homers and 103 RBIs in 2018 respectively. Last season he hit .307 in 150 games with 15 homeruns, 73 RBIs, and a .833 OPS all for the same team. He also won two World Series in 2013 and 2018 respectively.
Xander’s recent deal contains a no-trade clause. Before the clock struck midnight, the Padres wanted to ink Xander in at any cost, especially after Judge’s next move was already confirmed by the Yankees. The Padres already have some pretty good deals done with Fernando Tatis Jr. on a $340 million contract and Ha-Seong Kim.
The team’s core was further strengthened through the signing of Kenley Jansen and outfielder Masataka Yoshida. While having the four stars on board, it’ll make up for an amazing roster line, it is also to be noted that these players will cost a bit heavily for the 2023 season. Roughly $8 million is expected.
After playing 10 years with the Boston Red Sox, Xander has successfully snatched 4 All-Star titles, 2 World Series Champion titles, and 5 Silver Slugger Awards. This year, he finished in the 9th position for the AL MVP voting for his plays. According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, Xander turned down his ex-MLB team’s offer to get a chance and join a class of stature with the Padres.
