“Sell the team!” – MLB Twitter fumes as Yankees CRUMBLE to arch-nemesis Red Sox in devastating 5-15 rivalry game

The Boston Red Sox took the first game of the reverse series against the Yankees by crushing them 15-5 at Fenway Park. The NY side had lost two of the three previous encounters between them.

A week after the two meet in New York, the Boston Red Sox, and the New York Yankees reignited their rivalry at Fenway Park. The reverse series between these two MLB titans saw the Red Sox crush their arch-nemesis 15-5. During the game on Friday, Justin Turner stole the show as he collected six RBIs including a grand slam.

The two AL East teams have not found the rhythm they would have hoped for. Disappointing results have seen both of them far away from the top spot. The two teams also face the daunting scenario of not making it through the postseason. With stakes high like this, it was no doubt going to be a cracker of a series between them.

However what unfolded on Friday clearly showed the worrying signs for the Yankees. The team who are missing their star player Aaron Judge through injury, is now struggling offensively. The hosts went into the third inning with a three-run lead. A grand slam from Turner finished off the visitors early on.

Rookie Mastaka Yoshida also drove in three runs. This result meant that the Red Sox had taken three out of the four available from the Yankees. The Boston side scored 15 runs through season high 17 hits. The Yankees did pull some runs back late on but it was just a consolation prize for the hammering they underwent.

Rivalry match-ups have something special in them. No matter the recent results or forms, the teams come out in these games to deliver a knockout punch. One thing every fan hopes for is to avoid getting completely destroyed in these big games. Not only does it give the bragging rights to the other sets of supporters, but it also provides some sort of mental pain.

The Yankee fans this season are probably accustomed to this pain now. There is no doubt that the team has been heavily reliant on Aaron Judge. The star slugger has not played a game after getting injured during the game against the Dodgers. The fans on Twitter had a great day though and here are some reactions regarding the match.

To take out positives from that performance for the Yankees is a difficult task for the experts. Perhaps the return of a form of players like Josh Donaldson and Isiah-Kiner Falefa could provide some relief for the Yankee faithful. Their team will need a much better performance on Saturday if they were to avoid second successive series loss to their old nemesis.
