Ali Abdelaziz offers some insight into a potential super-fight between Kayla Harrison and Cris Cyborg
Kayla Harrison vs Cris Cyborg
Kayla Harrison, who is represented by one of the biggest UFC’s MMA manager Ali Abdelaziz, has been making waves in the MMA scene recently and is one of the pound for pound best athletes in the sport but she has a long way to go before being considered as one of the greatest. A win over Cris Cyborg, one of the greatest female fighters of all time, would help cement Kayla as one of the best and Ali has made it his mission in life, to make the said super-fight happen.
The problem is that the Kayla vs Cris fight might not happen much like the Cris Cyborg vs Ronda Rousey fight never managed to materialize. Cris Cyborg is the current Bellator featherweight Champion while Kayla Harrison just finished her second season with the PFL and has since been a free agent.
Both fighters look forward to fighting each other however it’s quite clear Kayla needs the fight more as a win over Cris might get her the name recognition and respect she deserves. Cris on the other hand doesn’t feel like the fight is necessary for her legacy but wants the bout anyway as “it’s gonna be a great fight”. Kayla has 12 straight wins and has completely dominated the PFL, she has won by 5 KOs, 5 TKOs and 2 Decisions.
Ali Abdelaziz’s tweet frenzy about speculated Kayla Harrison and Cris Cyborg
Fans of MMA were waiting in anticipation of any news about the fight when Aaron Bronsteter, a MMA reporter, tweeted “I’m told it’s a done deal. The PFL had matching rights and matched an offer from Bellator, Kayla Harrison is staying with the PFL on a very lucrative contract.”
Kayla and Cris being a part of different MMA promotions isn’t the best evidence for the fight going ahead but after talking with Ali Abdelaziz, Kayla’s manager, Aaron tweeted that the fight might happen vis cross promotion between Bellator and PFL. So it looks like the fight will happen as fans wished after all and Kayla will have the opportunity to prove that she belongs in the conversation of greatest ever.
“I am 100% sure that a fight with Cyborg will happen either at the end of this year or early next year. The only one who can prevent it is Cyborg.”– Ali Abdelaziz
