“Just do martial arts” Demetrious Johnson challenges Jake Paul to prove himself in MMA
Demetrious Johnson challenges Jake Paul
Jake Paul has been teasing a move to Mixed Martial Arts after his stint in boxing. MMA legend Demetrious Johnson is more than welcoming of this move and challenges the YouTube boxer to try and prove it in the MMA octagon.
Demetrious Johnson will always be supportive of a new change to sport given he himself will be taking on Rodtang Jitmuangnon in an interesting format of mixed martial arts at ONE X. After YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul revealed that he will be making his debut in MMA very soon, Johnson says he should do it, given he has been poking his nose in the MMA world quite often in the recent past.
In an interview with MMA Junkie ahead of his hybrid MMA bout at ONE X, Demetrious spoke about Jake and his career in fighting. “If he thinks he’s so f**king bad at boxing and all that stuff, hats off,” said Johnson talking to MMA Junkie. “You’re 3-0, 4-0 as a boxer. Do f**king mixed martial arts. I did an interview the other day and I was like, ‘Everybody is worried about fighting this person, let’s see how much money I can make from this person.'”
Jake has beaten the likes of Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley (twice) in his professional boxing career. The fighter has managed to knock out both the former MMA champions inside the boxing ring. Paul has also been taunting a lot of the MMA fighters challenging them to fight.

Demetrious Johnson says if Jake thinks he is good at MMA he should prove himself
“I was like, ‘just do mixed martial arts.’ You think you’re that great, just do it. If I thought I was a badass boxer, I would be like, ‘Let me just box.’ Even when they offered this fight to me, it’s Rodtang. I was like, ‘I’ll fight in muay Thai,'” said Johnson in his interview.
The MMA legend is tired of Paul talking crap about the sport of MMA and actually not doing anything to prove himself. Jake has revealed that he reached out to American Kick Boxing gym in San Jose, California to train with the likes of Javier Mendez for his MMA bout in the future. He also has offers from Eagle FC, the promotion run by Khabib Nurmagomedov, to make his MMA debut.
Johnson at the age of 35 and all the accomplishments in his career has decided to take on Rodtang in a hybrid bout where two rounds will be in MMA and two rounds will be in Muay Thai. Watch Demetrious Johnson’s interview with MMA Junkie below:
