UFC heavyweight legend Cain Velasquez has been put in jail after allegedly being involved in the bay area shooting.

In Morgan Hill, California, a shooting took place that left one man injured. Former UFC champion Cain Velasquez was alleged to be involved in this crime and has been jailed by the San Jose police. No further information has been provided regarding the arrest of the former MMA champ.

Velasquez is only claimed to be involved in the shooting but it is unclear on what his role was. He is being held at Santa Clara County Jail. NBC Bay Area reported this news about the shooting and was the first to report about Cain’s arrest. The fighter is held without bail and no charges has been listed.

The San Jose media relations tweeted about the incident and wrote that one man was shot and another arrested. “Units are currently at the scene of a shooting near the intersection of Monterey Hwy and Bailey Ave. One adult male shot at least once transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. One suspect in custody. Unknown motive or circumstances,” wrote in the tweet.

The online records suggest that the fighter was held under custody late that night. The shooting is reported to have taken place around 3 p m, California local time.

Cain Velasquez was last seen in the octagon in 2019 when he lost to current heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou via a first-round knockout. He also has made appearances on WWE. Velasquez trains at the AKA gym which is 25 miles from the place of shooting. The American Kickboxing gym is also home to stars like Daniel Cormier, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Islam Makhachev, Luke Rockhold, and others.
