Watch: Mehdi Dakaev scores highlight-reel diving KO at EFC 43, builds hype as Eagle FC inches closer to US debut

Eagle FC Mehdi Dakaev
Eagle FC 43 took place in Moscow, Russia on Dec 10th with Mehdi Dakaev vs Makkasharip Zaynukov headlining the event. It turned to be a fascinating bout as Dakaev retained his lightweight belt after knocking out Zaynukov with a left hook but what made the knockout even more special is that he connected that punch in mid-air while lunging at his opponent.
Fans took to Twitter to brand the knockout as one of the best they’ve ever seen and the video of his knockout has gone viral on social media.
The fight turned out to be the icing on the cake for former undefeated and lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s EFC just weeks before the promotion’s debut in the USA. Dakaev is now undefeated in his last seven fights and now looks to be a potential fighter against Kevin Lee in the future.
Khabib Nurmagomedov is planning to expand Eagle FC all around the world, specially in U.S.A

Khabib Nurmagomedov who bought Gorilla Fighting Championship and later renamed it Eagle FC sat with ESPN talking about his expansion plans for his promotion. “For fighters, for promotions – you have to be in the U.S. If you’re not in the U.S., you can never become No. 1. It’s almost impossible. It’s my opinion if you want to be best, you have to be in the U.S.” said Khabib in his interview with ESPN.
He confirmed that he will be making a major announcement in Miami on Dec 15th where he is also reportedly set to host EFC’s first main event on foreign soil. The promotion is set to add 50 fighters from around the world to their roster from young stars to former fighters from the UFC and Bellator. They’ve also signed with media company FLX who will stream the fights on their app FLXcast.
Will EFC be able to make it as big as the UFC in the US one day?
