Aljamain Sterling returns to the cage in the historic fight card of UFC 300. However, he had already returned to competition in the form of a grappling event. He headlined the Fury Pro 8 event alongside Kevin Dantzler. But, he failed to come out with a victory as the bout went the distance. As such, he ranted about his opponent in the post-match interview.
After losing to Kevin Dantzler, Aljamain Sterling joined the presenter for an interview and looked perplexed by the decision. As such, ‘The Funkmaster’ was frustrated and started venting out on his opponent. He criticized Dantzler’s initial move to sit on the mat as soon as the match started. Here is what he said:
I don't even know how they scored that. Another man can't drag his a** cheeks on the mat and think that's a win, doing absolutely nothing. If I did nothing, what the fu** did he do? Pull guard from standing up, don't just the match on your butt. That should be deducted a point right out of the gate. Am I wrong? That is a disgrace.Aljamain Sterling via UFC Fight Pass

Although ‘The Funk Master’ competed at the bantamweight division in his MMA career, the grappling events took place at 160lbs. Since it was just a side quest for Sterling, he didn’t bother to cut weight for these events. However, he hinted at it becoming his full-time career after finishing MMA.
Although Aljamain Sterling competed in UFC bantamweight, he had decided to move up to the featherweight division. He decided to move up after losing his 135 lb title to Sean O’Malley in UFC 292. Also, he reasoned his weight cuts had become tough. So, the UFC booked him against #7 ranked Calvin Kattar for UFC 300. As such, he hoped to win the match and put up a title run at 145lbs.
