Gordon Ryan’s pictures have taken the internet by storm – whether one is involved in the world of combat sports or not, one still would have seen the platinum-blond and muscular man.

However, for those who do not know – Ryan is a very accomplished individual in the world of martial arts. The American is a submission grappler and 1st-degree BJJ black belt – if that doesn’t say enough about his credentials, then perhaps his being considered the greatest no-gi grappler of all time will. Ryan holds the record for being a 5-time ADCC world champion at the tender age of 27.

Recently, he spoke about the man the combat world loves to hate – Dillon Danis. He said, “Dillon [Danis] is an absolute master at managing to stay relevant without actually doing anything combat-related. Dillon Danis has a record in Jiu-Jitsu, since black belt, of 18 wins and 16 losses. He’s not nearly as good at Jiu-Jitsu as people think.

Ryan might have a point here – Dillon Danis cut an infamous figure last year in September, when a club’s security guard choked him out on the behest of being ‘unruly’, igniting a slew of extremely hilarious and mean reactions from the fighting community.

Danis last professionally fought in 2019, in Bellator, when he took on Max Humphrey and beat him by submission. Similarly, on his organizational (and professional) debut, he again submitted Kyle Walker, to kick off his career in style. Yet those highs have come far too less times in between. With only two fights on his resume, his greatest claim to fame is being Conor McGregor’s training partner –  UFC fans will remember him getting entangled in a post-fight brawl with Khabib Nurmagomedov after he beat the Irishman.

Despite the inactivity, Danis has kept his name in the combat circles with help of a deep beef with Jake and Logan Paul, both of whom have offered to fight him. However, last month, yet another YouTuber-cum-professional boxer, KSI, announced that he would be taking on the infamous American in a boxing bout.

The two face off against one another in January next year, which isn’t far away at all. Boxing fans can expect a real test in Danis, for KSI, who earlier fought people who couldn’t be classified as seasoned professionals. For Dillon Danis, however, the fight is absurd – although he is taking part in a boxing bout, will he return to MMA after? Only time and the result of the bout will tell.
