“She doesn’t make great impressions,” Chael Sonnen shares his thoughts on meeting with Kayla Harrison

Kayla Harrison- Chael Sonnen

Chael Sonnen and Kayla Harrison might be a duo that does not get together but Sonnen won’t mind talking about her anyway and it can go brutally honest as well. Sonnen, a retired MMA fighter, last fought in 2019 when he lost via TKO to former UFC Lightheavyweight champion Lyoto Machida under the banner of Bellator MMA. However, Sonnen, a multiple-time UFC title challenger and a former Bellator MMA heavyweight Grand Prix semifinalist, is now a successful Youtuber with million subscribers as well as a promoter.

Harrison, a former judoka who is a 2-time Olympic champion, is currently a professional mixed martial artist who’s 14-0 in her overall MMA career with 11 wins by the way of finishes. Harrison trains at American Top Team alongside the likes of UFC fighters such as Jorge Masvidal, Dustin Poirier, Mateusz Gamrot and many more. Harrison tried to get signed to a major promotion by testing her free agency as long as possible but had to eventually take the course of her career back into the PFL. But Harrison hasn’t got her eyes off aspiring to fight women’s MMA greats like Amanda Nunes and Cris Cyborg.

“I find myself to be a Kayla defender,” says Sonnen “I met her one time and she didn’t see me like that. She didn’t love some of the stuff I have to say but I don’t think she listens close enough… I’m aware if you guys watch Kayla in the media in short things if you read her clips, if you get in very short, you’re not gonna like her she’s not overly likeable. But I will tell you she doesn’t make great impressions, in though she means something else, she doesn’t have the time to set up the context…” concludes Sonnen.

What do you make of Sonnen’s thoughts on Harrison? Do you see Harrison the same way from the audience side as Sonnen? Do you think Harrison will ever sign to huge promotions like Bellator MMA and UFC in her future as a fighter? Against whom do you think Harrison will have the toughest fight of her career? For someone who’s now a glorious amateur veteran in recognised martial art and 13-0 in her overall MMA career, Harrison has all the experience in the world to break into the big leagues of the UFC.
