Demetrious Johnson makes bold claim about beating bantamweight 'GOAT' Aljamain Sterling
Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson claimed that he could beat the UFC bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling. Johnson said this while answering Ariel Helwani in the MMA Hour podcast about Sterling’s comments on his Weekly Scraps podcast.
“Might Mouse” said that he has no real beef with Sterling and is appreciative of the latter’s accomplishments. When explaining how he would beat Sterling, Johnson said, “I would eat his a** up for breakfast in the clinch game.” Johnson’s rhythm is another advantage he has over the bantamweight champion. Moreover, he believes he has the skill set to beat the complex style of Sterling.
In his interview with Ariel Helwani, Demetrious Johnson discussed a lot of topics, including the trend of MMA fighters making more money in the boxing scene. He explains what went wrong in the Nate Diaz versus Jake Paul fight, the viral clip of Terence Crawford wrestling, and his matchup with Bradley Martin. The interview then dived into the UFC 292 headliner and ultimately finished with Johnson giving a subtle callout to Sterling.
Demetrious Johnson is now 37 years old and awaiting his next opponent. In his last fight, he thoroughly outclassed Adriano Moraes, who suffered his first defeat at the One Championship. He is the consensus greatest flyweight champion in MMA history and also has a case for being the greatest ever to do MMA. Danny Kingad is a possible opponent for Johnson in his next defense of the title.

“There’s plenty of ways to make money,” Georges St-Pierre advises Demetrious Johnson
Demetrious Johnson, when speaking to Ariel Helwani about what’s next, paraphrased Georges St-Pierre’s advice of making money in different ways. GSP is now involved in Jiu-Jitsu competitions. Since vacating the middleweight title, St-Pierre is not active in active MMA competition.
Johnson has taken the former double champions’ advice and is awaiting his next opponent. He has also alluded to the matchmaker of his promotion that the fight that’s most intriguing for him is against Aljamain Sterling. However, the UFC doesn’t do co-promotion.
“Might Mouse” will be heeding the advice of his wife, Destiny Johnson after his next fight. Being a father of three, Johnson has a long road ahead of him. Heeding GSP’s advice, Johnson might retire after his next fight and find other ways to make money.
