Demetrious Johnson set the benchmark for all aspiring athletes after his ONE flyweight title defense. “Mighty Mouse” was the only flyweight champion in the UFC to defend the title 11 times. DJ is still considered one of the best mixed martial artists by current and former UFC fighters.
Demetrius Johnson defeated Adriano Moraes in Colorado in a five-round slugfest. It was the third time that both fighters collided in Asia’s biggest martial arts organization. Moraes won the first fight, and Johnson avenged his loss in the second. In the end, Johnson masterfully dominated Moraes to win the trilogy bout.
During the post-fight press conference of ONE Fight Night 10, reporters flocked to question Mighty Mouse about his future. When asked about his retirement, Johnson clearly stated that he was unsure if the time was right. Johnson said, “We will see.” In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Mighty Mouse talked about potentially retiring from MMA in the near future. However, he did not announce his retirement after defending the title against Moraes.
Mighty Mouse wins the trilogy with a 2-1 lead over Adriano Moraes. DJ has five wins and one loss in the ONE Fighting Championship. He also competed in special rules bout with phenomenal Muay-Thai striker Rodtang Jitmuangnon. Johnson submitted Rodtang in the second round via Rear-Naked Choke to win the bout.

Despite many thinking that Demetrious Johnson will announce his retirement at ONE Fight Night 10 event in Colorado, Mighty Mouse intends to continue fighting. He assured fans that he would compete at least one more time. However, at the same time, he would like to consult legends Khabib Nurmagomedov, Georges St-Pierre, and Urijah Faber on retirement.
Mighty Mouse said, “Talking to my peers and talking to Urijah Faber. You know, I am going to reach out to GSP, I’m gonna reach out to Khabib Nurmagomedov asking, ‘why did you guys stop?’ Those guys could keep on fighting, could have kept on fighting.” Johnson believes he is not old, but GSP and Khabib Nurmagomedov retired young in their respective careers. Hence, Johnson wants to consult them before making any decision on retirement.
The 36-year-old has already cemented an iconic legacy by conquering both UFC and ONE championship belts. So, when DJ was asked about his name also being in the GOAT debate with Anderson Silva, Jon Jones, GSP, and Fedor Emelianenko, he appreciated it. Mighty Mouse said, “It’s great. It’s great to be considered the GOAT amongst those great athletes like Khabib GSP and Jon Jones.”
