In a surprising twist, the ongoing banter between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg has taken a new direction. Elon Musk recently unveiled a series of screenshots capturing their intense direct message exchange. Zuckerberg questioned the intention of Musk on the Threads app.
The two influential figures have casually hinted at the possibility of a mixed martial arts showdown for months. Nevertheless, the fate of this event seems to hang in the balance. Within the private messages, Musk proposed Zuckerberg a friendly practice bout at his residence. In response, Zuckerberg candidly advised Musk to independently train for a real MMA fight and then extend an invitation to compete when ready.
Expressing concern about overhyping an event that might never materialize, Zuckerberg urged Musk to make a swift decision. Elon Musk didn’t back down, suggesting a face-off within Zuckerberg’s octagon located in Palo Alto, slated for Monday.
Musk light-heartedly disclosed his lack of recent practice, humorously mentioning a brief sparring session with Lex Fridman. He playfully speculated about the odds of his victory, considering their noticeable size difference. He even cheekily mused about Zuckerberg being a “modern day Bruce Lee” who might pull off an unexpected triumph.
Will Elon Musk versus Mark Zuckerberg’s MMA showdown actually take place?
Throughout the summer, the pair’s playful banter has sparked interest from both MMA enthusiasts and those less familiar with the sport. However, the latest turn of events casted doubt on whether this anticipated showdown will actually take place.
Interestingly, UFC President Dana White expressed interest in promoting the fight while Musk and Zuckerberg exchanged messages. Musk’s announcement on Twitter diverted from the usual route, declaring that their foundations, rather than the UFC, would oversee the management of the event. He elaborated on plans to capture an ancient Roman ambiance for the fight, with no modern elements.
Zuckerberg, however, promptly challenged Musk’s statement on Threads. He contested the existence of any finalized agreements. He expressed his preference for the UFC or ONE Championship to handle promotion, thereby attracting a broader audience and offering greater visibility to the athletes. As their playful feud unfolds, the future of the Musk-Zuckerberg cage match remains uncertain.
