Bantamweight sensation Zion Clark showcased his wrestling and ground game against his opponent during his pro debut.

Zion Clark shocked the world in his MMA debut. The bantamweight phenomenon is known for doing incredible things despite the absence of two lower limbs. Representing Team Bodyshop MMA from Lakewood, California, Clark won his first fight on December 17, 2022. The match happened under the MMA promotion Gladiator Challenge, based in California. Zion Clark famously had a pushup competition with Jon Jones at UFC 285.
The match started with opponent Eugene Murray pacing in range. Picking the pace, Clark charged with leg locks and brought him down. Clark used his wrestling ability to win the rounds. He displayed good ground control and scrambling abilities. After three rounds, Clark won via unanimous decision. He also celebrated his victory with a backflip inside the cage.
Hailing from Columbus, Ohio, Clark is a certified American wrestler, professional mixed martial artist, and wheelchair racer. Clark wrestled as a part of his curriculums for many years. He was a part of his University wrestling team and was named the “fastest man on two hands” by the Guinness Book of World Records. He attempted the terrific feat of being the fastest 20m walking on hands-on 15 February 2021 at his former high school gym in Ohio. Clark also made it up to the semi-finals of America’s Got Talent show in 2023.
For the future, Clark aspires to be the first American athlete to compete in both the Olympic (wrestling) and Paralympic additionally (wheelchair racing) games in 2024. He is determined to outdo Michael Phelps, currently the most decorated Olympian.
Fans react to Zion Clark’s pro-MMA debut
Ohio native Zion Clark is already a worldwide sensation. Clark is also a two Sports Emmy winner and has a nomination for the Short Film Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. Last December, he made his pro-MMA debut at the Gladiator Challenge and won. Check out how the fans reacted to his performance.
As of his fighting initiation record, Clark was the 822nd ranked out of 979 active United States Pro Bantamweights and 140th to come out of California. As Clark progresses in his career as a wrestler, he also aspires to wrestle at the 2024 Summer Olympics and Paralympics.
