Ex-UFC Heavyweight Francis Ngannou was the highlight of 2023, for more reasons than one. His unprecedented bow-out from the UFC after refusing to sign a contract took the world by storm. Eric Nicksick, the French-Cemroonian’s coach from the Xtreme Couture Gym, however, kept his belief. That belief correspondingly took good form, as Ngannou faced Tyson Fury next.

The heavyweight striker faced boxing’s lineal champion Fury in the opening ceremony of Riyadh Boxing Season. The debutant boxer had legends Mike Tyson and Teddy Atlas in his corner; though the latter joined on much after. Not only did his performance against Fury earn him major praise, but it was financially fetching as well. Speaking to MMA Junkie Radio, this is what Nicksick had to state on the matter:

It was the most money I’ve ever been paid by a fighter – it was unbelievable...It was more than I expected. Obviously, Francis has always taken great care of me, but it floored me.

Sporting a “Jaxxon” Podcast merchandising cap, the Xtreme Couture coach mentioned the financial freedom he got from it. Despite a controversial split decision loss for Ngannou, his earnings exceeded his official UFC payout vastly. Consequently, he wholeheartedly thanked Ngannou for taking care of him. The fighter is under the PFL banner now.

With a 95-94 score from two judges, Ngannou came close to upsetting Fury drastically. He had even knocked down the pro boxer in the closely contested bout. His athleticism and vigor as a debuting boxer earned him much praise from peers, and even Fury himself.

Jake Paul sprung instances of Francis Ngannou and Andre August to praise MMA

Jake Paul, the influencer-boxer faced Andre August recently and won. He had received much flack for deviating from crossover bouts to a much-seasoned boxer. Notably, it is mention-worthy that the “Problem Child” is transitioning to MMA for his PFL venture. Thus, Paul felt it necessary to compare his win over August to an “MMA win” over boxing.

Correspondingly, Paul also talked about Francis Ngannou, who performed admirably against Tyson Fury. Ngannou left the UFC earlier in 2023 due to contractual clashes. This, he mentioned during an interview with Club Shay Shay with Shannon Sharpe as a prime reason for leaving UFC. Now, check out how Paul has used this discourse to his full advantage.

Paul has now advanced to 8-1 with his 2:32 mark KO over August. Recently Paul had also taken a jab at UFC’s top honcho Dana White for “biggest star, and the heavyweight champion of their organization” leaving and joining PFL. With his latest tweet, Paul has thus taken full advantage of the situation.
