Israel Adesanya has become the fan favorite after securing the win at UFC 287. Also, the fan base for Adesanya has grown since April 8. Israel Adesanya was able to secure his first victory in four fights against Alex Pereira. Pereira was three up when both fighters collided at Kaseya Center. The Miami crowd witnessed one of the biggest rivalry battles at the center of the arena. Since Poaton was 3-0 up against “The Last Stylebender,” fans counted the champ as an underdog.
But Israel Adesanya was also coming to get the throne back from his biggest rival. On November 20, 2022, Adesanya lost his title to his biggest nightmare at UFC 281. Time was ticking for Izzy as he himself declared that if he lost, he would retire from MMA forever.
At UFC 287, something happened: a large percentage of the audience was cheering for Pereira.
After winning the fight Middleweight champion said “I hope all of you can feel how f—ing happy I am just once in your life,” Adesanya said after the fight. “But guess what? You will never feel this level of happiness if you don’t go for something in your own life. When they knock you down, when they try and shit on you, when they talk shit about you and they try and put their foot on your neck, if you stay down, you will never get that resolve. Fortify your mind and feel this level of happiness one time in your life. I’m blessed to be able to feel this shit again and again and again and again and again.“
Israel Adesanya UFC 287 winning act replicated at Graduation Ceremony
Despite having an MCL tear, he was not ready to give up on his dream. Izzy got the victory via knockout over his biggest rival. The biggest motivational fight for the MMA community was when there was no hope, and then the champion delivered. In his post-fight speech, Israel motivated his audience, which had a big impact on one of the university students.
The student was called to the stage to get the degree during the graduation ceremony. As soon as he got the degree and went back to his place, he performed the same celebration Adesanya did after defeating Alex Pereira at UFC 287.
With less than a month to go, Israel Adesanya’s document will go on air on Netflix. The story of Adesanya will have unreleased footage to show a glimpse of the middleweight champ’s life.
