“Best this I’ve seen”- Jorge Masvidal on what impressed him about Jake Paul’s clash against Tyron Woodly
Jorge Masvidal and Jake Paul
Jorge Masvidal is coming off a loss against the number 2 ranked welterweight in the world. He trains out of the American top team and he use to have Tryon Woodley as one of his training partners at certain times. The two got in touch to prepare Tryon prior to his bout against Colby Covington.
In an interview with ESPN, Woodley stated, “I’ve always been American Top Team, and I’ve always supported Jorge. If you go back two, three years, you’ll see me giving Jorge credit and being happy for him, genuinely that he’s finally making the money.”
Woodley said Masvidal also has helped him with personal matters.“He hit me up personally about a year and a half ago and told me there were some toxic things in my life that I needed to erase, and I’ve erased those things,” Woodley said. “Now I can breathe. Now I can float. Now I’m back, and it feels good, and I have to thank him for that.”
Jorge Masvidal gives his take on the boxing career of Jake Paul
Masvidal starred in a recent podcast of Logan Paul’s “Impaulsive.” He was asked about Jake Paul, and he said he is impressed with Jake showcasing great composure and grit in his against Tyron Woodley. “The best thing that I saw from (that fight) is he got cracked numerous times in his last fight, and I think even suffered a little headbutt.“
“And I saw his face in that one round where he was like, ‘Holy shit, it’s a fucking real fight.’ And the next round he was still down in belief but eventually he came back and started fighting harder and better. That’s the best thing I’ve seen about him so far, is that he actually had real adversity, (Woodley) caught him with two good shots and kept his composure and fought through”
He further added that Jake Paul choosing Tryon Woodley was a very smart decision for him, “Woodley’s also a fighter that’s very good for him to fight, you know. Woodley fights in spots. Woodley’s not crazy aggressive, he’ll explode on you with his one great shot. In MMA, it would work, because he had a great low kick, great takedown, great overhand. But in boxing, to where, you know, if all you have is a good right hand, I kind of see that, you know. Because I just got to keep my hands up. I don’t got to worry about a takedown or or a leg kick.”
