Cris Cyborg- Kayla Harrison

Kayla Harrison, a two-time Olympic gold medallist in judo, entered the MMA scene with a lot of buzzes. Harrison entered the PFL’s lightweight class (when it was still known as the World Series of Fighting) and immediately dominated the competition.

Harrison defeated Larissa Pacheco in the finals of the PFL Women’s Lightweight Tournament in 2019. Harrison won the title again in 2021, defeating Taylor Guardado in the finals. Harrison has five TKO victories and five submission victories.

Harrison’s free agency period began after the Guardado victory, and she began researching all of her alternatives. She has appeared on UFC and Bellator shows, as well as All Elite Wrestling events with Dan Lambert of American Top Team. Harrison was offered rich deals by the UFC, Bellator, and the PFL, and the 31-year-old was looking for the finest chance that would help solidify her status as one of the best MMA fighters of all time.

In another interview with MMA hour, she was asked about the same where she stated, “PFL used their right to match and I’m super happy that they did. I’m not upset that they did. I love the PFL. … But yeah, I signed a contract. I’m not scared, I’m not running. Cyborg, if you’re not scared and you’re not running, come fight me here then.”

Although unbeaten Harrison has torn through the competition so far, Cyborg thinks she’d be a whole different level for her if they fought. Both are top-tier fighters in women’s MMA making the fight produce great stakes which ultimately leads to a spectacle of an event. If the fight sets itself free from all the obligations prior, these two squaring off would be a treat for the MMA fans.
