“Work in progress,”- Khabib Nurmagomedov meets Scott Coker to discuss a cross promotion fight
Scott Coker-Khabib Nurmagomedov
Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time and has shown a dominating performance in the UFC. Khabib retired from the sport in 2020 and has turned into a fight promoter by launching his own promotion company, the Eagle FC. Recently, Eagle FC owner Khabib Nurmagomedov met with Bellator president Scott Coker and it is being speculated that both promotions will hold a cross-promotion MMA fight between fighters from both promotions.
Khabib, in the past, expressed his desire for a cross-promotion fight between former UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos and MMA heavyweight legend Fedor Emelianenko. Dos Santos is currently fighting under the Eagle FC while Fedor is signed with the Bellator. Scott has always been an advocate for cross-promotion fights and this might be an opportunity for him to make his dream come true.
Khabib recently posted a picture of him along with his manager Ali Abdelaziz meeting the Bellator president with the caption: “Work in progress”, showing that both promotions might discuss the fight between two heavyweight legends. Two parties might come to an agreement as both have already expressed their desire for a cross-promotion fight.
“Face of MMA “- Khabib Nurmagomedov claims Fedor Emelianenko is the greatest MMA fighter of all time
Khabib Nurmagomedov has picked Fedor Emelianenko as the greatest MMA fighter of all time. Fedor gained attention during his run as the PRIDE heavyweight champion. Fedor has been one of the top fighters in the MMA and has a professional record of 40 wins and 6 losses. With such an amazing record, many consider him not only the greatest heavyweight in the MMA but the greatest fighter in the sport.
In the pre-event interview of Eagle FC 47, Khabib talked about Fedor Emelianenko and claimed that he is the G.O.A.T. in MMA and he also talked about the possibility of a fight between Dos Santos and Fedor. Khabib said: “Why not, because these two were a longtime face of MMA. Fedor was the greatest fighter of all time, in my opinion. And dos Santos was a heavyweight champion for a couple of years in UFC. These two guys, they deserve, and fans deserve, and I think for me it’s a very interesting matchup too.”
As both promotions discuss a cross-promotion fight, they should speed up the process because Fedor is in the last phase of his career and might not have many fights left before he retires from the sport. Fedor is currently signed with Bellator and last fought against Tim Johnson at Bellator 269. Fedor won the fight via first-round knockout.
