Khabib has signed big names from the UFC like Rashad Evans, Kevin Lee, and Diego Sanchez to his Eagle FC promotion. When asked by the media if Luke was one of the names that the Russian-based MMA organization was targeting, Khabib said that he had no intention of doing so. One of the main reasons is that Rockhold has already had a glorious career behind him and there would be no reason to provide him another platform.

“I don’t think so. He [Rockhold] was a Strikeforce champion. He was a UFC champion. He has nothing to prove here, I believe he does not have to fight anymore,” said Khabib talking to Red Corner MMA. Khabib saw two of his close friends face defeats at UFC 278, Kamaru Usman in the main event and Rockhold in the co-main event.

Luke was an underdog going into the fight against Paulo Costa but still put on an amazing performance and never gave up the entire fight. The former two-promotional champion was covered in blood and had one of the goriest performances of his career. The fighter retired on a high note and there isn’t much that you could ask from the 37-year-old in his last fight.
