MLB icon Barry Bonds, famous for his record-breaking home runs, has ventured into a new realm of athleticism: BJJ. Bonds holds the Major League Baseball records for the most home runs in a single season and of all time. He recently accomplished a significant feat by attaining the rank of blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
His achievement came under the guidance of esteemed black belt instructor John “J” Janero. Barry trains at the Evolve Training Center in South San Francisco, California. Amidst the ceremony, an emotional Janero expressed his deep appreciation, stating, “I’ve been fortunate to promote idols like Rickson Gracie, Xande, and Saulo [Ribeiro],” he said. “But never before have I had the opportunity to promote my own idol.”
Overwhelmed with pride, Janero singled out Bonds from his group of students. He gently removed his white belt and ceremoniously replaced it with the coveted blue belt. The belt is a significant milestone in the progression of Brazilian jiu-jitsu. It precedes the purple, brown, and ultimately, the prestigious black belt. In a display of mutual respect, Bonds and Janero then exchanged bows. The two shared an embracing moment, solidifying their connection as mentor and pupil.
Bonds’ entry into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a prime example of his unyielding love for the sport. It also represents his relentless pursuit of perfection. His adaptability and commitment to personal development are evident as he moves from one highly skilled field to another. Bonds add another chapter to his great career by advancing in martial arts. Dave Bautista finally puts on his very own brown belt in BJJ
One of the most prominent figures in professional wrestling, Dave Bautista, recently earned his brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. In addition to his successful endeavors, the renowned wrestler accomplished the remarkable feat of earning the coveted belt. With pride and gratitude, Bautista took to Instagram to share this achievement, accompanied by a heartfelt caption.
On Instagram, Bautista shared a photo of himself proudly displaying his brown belt. He set it against the backdrop of the Gracie Fighter gym logo. His teammates had the honor of presenting him with the distinguished brown belt. Bautista embarked on his BJJ journey at Cesar Gracie’s BJJ gym in 2010. Like any novice, he encountered challenges in this combat sport. Nevertheless, his unwavering passion gradually transformed into a deep love for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
