Cris Lencioni was a promising fighter in the Bellator fighting organization. The young fighter had recently suffered a cardiac arrest during a fight a few weeks ago. But fans can find hope with the fighter slowly showing signs of recovery through stimuli.
“The Sunshine”, as he is otherwise known, runs a BJJ gym in Oregon with his wife, apart from fighting in Bellator. The youngster was rushed into the ICU following his cardiac arrest during his fight against James Gallagher at Bellator 298. His wife has stated publicly that he has suffered brain damage. Although the fighter had been brought out of the Intensive Care Unit, the family was still concerned with recovery and expenses. Lencioni had no health insurance, and a GoFundMe page has allowed his family to rake up 46,000 USD.
Lencioni’s wife has confirmed that the neurologists have told her he is in a “state of disordered consciousness”. They emphasize that the brain is complex and that it is on him to come out of the struggle. A recent video release has given his family and fans worldwide hope. In the video below, it can be seen that Cris Lencioni is seemingly responding to external stimuli. The Bellator professional was unable to perform such an act up until now.
Such a tragedy to any person is heartbreaking, especially for the individual’s family and friends. It’s safe to say that thousands of people are praying for Cris Lencioni’s speedy recovery.
