“Not very effective”- Ringside physician dismisses Jeremy Stephens’ attempt to make weight by shaving his head
Jeremy Stephens shaved
The MMA community has seen very bizarre incidents in a few recent years, ranging from extreme weight cuts to horrific injuries, but recently Jeremy Stephens attempted something that no one ever thought would even be possible. Jeremy Stephens is a MMA fighter and currently fights in the PFL and formerly completed in the UFC.
Jeremy faces Myles Price at PFL 4 on June17 in the lightweight division. Jeremy stepped on the scale for the event on Friday and fans were shocked to see his new look. The weight limit for a lightweight fight is 155 pounds and a one pound allowance is given in the non-title fight. Jeremy stepped on the scale clean-shaven, without hair and beard. All the measures paid off and Jeremy weighed in at 156 pounds during the weigh-in.
David Abbasi is a ringside physician, and he reacted to Jeremy’s attempt to hit weight by shaving off his head and beard. David posted his opinion on his twitter account and according to him, the move won’t be much effective to make weight for a fight. Abbasi explained that the weight of hair on head and beard is very low to make an impact on the body weight and it is useless to attempt such things.
