Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin found himself at the center of a heated debate. This occurred at a Senate Health, Education, Labour, and Pensions Committee hearing. The senator was embroiled in a confrontation with Teamsters General President Sean O’Brien. For months, these two had feuded on social media. The tension in the atmosphere reached a climax when Mullin read aloud a slew of insulting tweets and challenges from O’Brien.

The senator started the heated debate by describing aggressive remarks and taunts sent at him on numerous social media sites by O’Brien. O’Brien had earlier in the year challenged Mullin to a physical fight. Mullin took advantage of the chance to confront O’Brien at the hearing, saying:

This is the time, this is the place. You wanna run your mouth? We could be two consenting adults. We can finish it here.

Unfazed, O’Brien nodded positively, setting the scenario for a potential physical conflict within the Senate’s chambers. The committee chairman, Senator Bernie Sanders, intervened to prevent a physical conflict between Mullin and O’Brien. Sanders reminded Mullin of his position as a United States senator, advising him to avoid violent confrontation.

It should be noted that Senator Markwayne Mullin is a trained MMA fighter with an undefeated 5-0 record. In 2016, Sen. Mullin was inducted into the Oklahoma Wrestling Hall of Fame. He has continued to coach wrestling while still retired from MMA.
