The world of MMA and anime have a close connection. Some combat sports fighters are big anime fans due to their storyline and character growth. Fighters like Israel Adesanya, Max Holloway, Polyana Viana, and Robert Whittaker, to name a few, are fans of anime. Anime fans also have an appreciation for fighters as well. Recently, a street fight video went viral on social media, and the victor of the fight even drew comparison to an iconic anime protagonist.
In the viral video, two men proceeded to have a pre-meditated street fight. Both were in their shorts. One wore black whilst the other wore blue. As the fight proceeded, the man in black shorts threw a telegraphed overhand right. The punch knocked his opponent out cold. However, the black shorts fighter proceeded to land brutal ground and pound shorts before another man stepped in to stop the fight. Unfortunately, the blue shorts fighter was unresponsive as the video ended.
The brutal impact of the fighter’s punch drew a comparison to the anime superhero Saitama from One Punch Man. He is an immensely powerful superhero who has the power to destroy his enemies with a single punch. The anime remains popular among fans and Adesanya.
The former UFC middleweight champion Adesanya has recreated anime scenarios in his fights. He famously recreated the fight between Gaara and Rock Lee from Naruto in his fight with Anderson Silva. Moreover, he even made a Death Note reference before his fight with Robert Whittaker for the first time. Max Holloway and his family often dress up as anime characters. The Holloways recently dressed up as characters from Chainsaw Man. Before that, they dressed up as characters from My Hero Academia.
Fight fans react to the anime like street fight video
The one-punch knockout video did not go unnoticed on social media. It spread like wildfire on various social media platforms. The video got close to 200K views on X alone. It went viral because of its similarity to the iconic anime One Punch Man.

The video got mixed reactions from fight fans. Some found it very good, but others alluded to the dangers of unsanctioned bouts. This is particularly true as even fighters die in sanctioned bouts.
