Urijah Faber‘s A1 Combat 18 witnessed a tremendous knockout (KO) in the main event. Valesca Machado knocked out the then-undefeated Taylor Mauldin fifty seconds into the bout. The finish came via a brutal right hook similar to the way Ilia Topuria knocked out Alexander Volkanovski just days before at UFC 298.

The video of the knockout went viral on social media. After a couple of seconds of feeling out the process, Machado used her left jabs and right straights to put Mauldin’s back against the cage. Then, Machado proceeded to unleash combinations of left and right hooks. The finish came as a right hook landed clean on Mauldin’s chin.

The finishing sequence began when Machado’s right hand partially landed on Mauldin. At this moment, Machado had Mauldin trapped in front of the fence. Machado landed a straight right at the time, but the left hook that followed missed the target. However, a right hook landed, followed by a missed left hook before Machado landed the right hook that knocked her opponent out cold.

The way Mauldin fell to the canvas was similar to the way Dominick Reyes and Jai Herbert fell in their respective knockout losses to Jiri Prochazka and Ilia Topuria. Before the loss, Mauldin was the undefeated strawweight champion at Urijah Faber’s A1 Combat.

Valesca Machado recently lost her Invicta strawweight title but debuted in style at Urijah Faber’s A1 Combat with a brutal knockout victory. She is now the strawweight champion of the promotion. Machado could not get into the UFC as she lost in Dana White’s Contender Series. However, since then, she is 5-1. Her only loss is to current Invicta strawweight champion Danny McCormack.
