At BKFC 41, something happened that fans didn’t expect from their favorite fighter. Former UFC middleweight champ Luke Rockhold suffered a broken tooth as he was competing against Mike Perry.
Fans have seen Luke Rockhold in the blood pool earlier, but this instance went too seriously for the former champ. Luke Rockhold was making a comeback after his loss at UFC 278 against Paulo Costa. So was Mike Perry, who was returning to the ring after defeating Michael Page at BKFC London. Perry entered the highly anticipated battle with two fights under his belt and is the current light heavyweight champion. But it was Luke’s first time competing without gloves.
Mike Perry felt confident going into the bout that he could defeat the former UFC middleweight champion and add another opponent to his winning run. It was also a crucial fight for Luke Rockhold, who was returning from retirement and had a three-fight losing streak. It was undoubtedly a new beginning for “Rocky,” who was returning from an emotional retirement after the UFC released him.
For Rockhold, it was a one-fight deal with the BKFC as well that didn’t pan out well for him. It was a stoppage, as Rockhold suffered serious damage to his mouth. The fight ended in the second round as Rockhold was seen talking to the referee. The referee then checked his injury, which he was complaining about, and waved to call off the bout in favor of Perry.

Watch how Luke Rockhold got serious damage to his tooth
Mike Perry and the crowd were perplexed when Luke Rockhold complained about something. Many fans assumed Rockhold was quitting the match. However, he was seen discussing the situation, and when Mike Perry found out about it, he was shocked to see the outcome of his brutal strikes.
As the hard-hitting punches wobbled both former UFC fighters, fans also saw how the fight ended. Rockhold, after suffering hard blows to the jaw and mouth, got some teeth broken, which was surely creating problems for him. The MMA community knows how dangerous Rockhold is; even if he is not in shape, he still has the power to deliver upsetting blows.
While Perry maintained his winning streak with a 3-0 record, Luke Rockhold’s task will be more difficult, as he hasn’t won a single match in the last four fights. First, he will need his mouth healed since he had lip damage and requires his teeth to be fixed. It will take time for these things to heal. MMA is all about physical effort, and one of the things that every fighter considers is striking the face.
