Recently, a video of a man boxing against a bear went viral on Instagram. ‘Boxingworldfans’ handle which has a following of over two million people posted the video. However, the video originated from an Instagram account of Igor Ivanchenko, a Russian fighter. As such, he was the one boxing the bear.
In the video, Igor Ivanchenko wore a perfect boxing outfit with red corners and gloves. He also had snow boots and an ‘Ushanka’, a Russian cap somewhat similar to what Rafael Fiziev wears. As such, he shadowboxed in front of a big bear in a snowy landscape. At the end of the video, the bear came forward, eventually making Ivanchenko run.
As Igor Ivanchenko ran away, the bear continued to chase him. However, it wasn’t a dangerous situation since the bear was a paid actor in internet terms. The bear was trained to play in skits like this. It even has an Instagram handle ‘tom.bear.tom’ where one can find other videos featuring him.
Igor Ivanchenko’s video has reminded the MMA community about former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov who wrestled bears at a young age. Many even credited his dominance in the cage to his training with bears. However, this recent video was more like a play than what Nurmagomedov did. Ivanchenko is currently a boxer with a record of five wins and one loss.

Russian boxer, Igor Ivanchenko, recently released a video of him boxing in front of a bear. The video went viral on Instagram with many Instagram pages reposting it. The video showcased Ivanchecko touching gloves and pretending to hit the bear. Then, he proceeded to shadowbox until the bear started chasing him.
It was a well-crafted play for a fun video. The bear was well-trained and obeyed too. As such, this video captured the attention of fight fans. So, they hurried to the comment section and hurled reactions to the video. Here are a few interesting reactions:
Fight fans expressed the typical nature of Russians fighting bears, resonating with past instances. Further, a few compared the instance to the anime character Takamura from ‘Hajime No Ippo’. For context, Takamura was a credited boxer in the anime who fought off a wild bear.
