One such incident took place during the bantamweight championship bout in which John Lineker went against Bibiano Fernandes. The top-ranked challenger, known for his powerful striking abilities, delivered a decisive knockout blow to the reigning champion of the division during the main event at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. This knockout came in the second round and was executed with a powerful left hook, showcasing that his “Hands of Stone” are among the most formidable weapons in the promotion.

The knockout was brutal and made a horrible sound that left the fans shocked. Fernandes’ defeat was evident as soon as he hit the canvas. The referee made the decision to stop the match at 3:40 into the second round, thereby awarding Lineker his 17th knockout win and the ONE Bantamweight World Title.

During his post-fight interview with ONE Championship commentator Mitch Chilson, Lineker acknowledged that he was knocked down in the first round. However, he managed to regain his composure and make a comeback. Lineker expressed confidence in his striking abilities, even against someone like Bibiano. He emphasized he believed in his hands and that he would win the title.

After the incident, during an interview with the promotion, Lineker revealed that he experienced unbearable pain. According to the fighter, in addition to the pain, there was difficulty breathing, leading to a sense of fear. The cup shattered, not just from the impact but due to the sheer force of the blow, draining his strength and momentum.

The fighter then mentioned the medical tests were conducted, and there were no serious issues detected. Some discomfort remained as expected, causing hesitation even when it came to going to the bathroom. Nevertheless, according to the doctors’ assessment, Lineker’s condition was better.
