Tsitsipas has handled his tough draw at the Monte Carlo Masters well. After a bye in the first round, he faced Aslan Karatsev in the second. Karatsev has been in good form, winning the Dubai Open recently. But, Tsitsipas eased past him in two sets 6-3 6-4. In the third round, Tsitsipas went up against sixteenth seeded Chilean Cristian Garín. Garin had in the previous round beaten the promising Canadian Felix Auger Aliassime. But against Tsitsipas Garin found the going tough. Tsitsipas closed the match in two sets, 6-3 6-4.

In the Quarter-finals, Tsitsipas will face the Spanish player Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. Fokina moves into his first Quarter-finals on the back of some great performances this week at Monte Carlo. In the first round he beat the Australian Alex de Minaur. In the second he defeated the Italian Matteo Berrettini. In his third round match he got the better of Frenchman Lucas Pouille in straight sets, 6-2 7-6. Fokina is yet to drop a set in this tournament.

Tsitsipas is a great player on all surfaces, but he is fantastic at controlling the game from the baseline on clay. His serve is a major weapon on all surfaces, and the power he possesses in his game is specially helpful on slow surfaces.

Fokina, like any other Spanish player, plays his best tennis on clay. He has good variety in his game, adding drop shots etc to the mix. His backhand down the line is very impressive. This will be a tough game for Tsitsipas and he might drop a set too, but will prevail in the end.
