Mookie Betts shuts ‘overconfident’ Micah Parsons, gives him a reality check: “No chance you can hit…”

Betts, a season MLB veteran thwarted Parsons' claim of hitting between .180 to .200, claiming that being a great athlete doesn't mean he can be a great hitter of a baseball.

Micah Parsons has quickly become a well-known face on social media for his hot takes and statements. The Dallas Cowboys pass rusher recently told Texans quarterback CJ Stroud that he could hit between .120 to .200 across a 162-game season which the LA Dodgers hitter Mookie Betts completely disagreed with.

A video surfaced from Bleacher Report revealing Micah Parsons’ bold statement on hitting a baseball. Stroud quickly disagreed with the linebacker, calling him delusional.

Although Betts never saw Stroud’s reaction yet he said the same thing as the 22-year-old. Betts, who was a former MVP and finished second in the selection last year with a .309 rate, doesn’t believe that Parsons is capable of hitting a single baseball.

During the June 12 episode of his On Base Live podcast, Mookie Betts told guest, Texas Rangers’ Marcus Semien that the three time Pro Bowl edge rusher may be a great athlete but that doesn’t qualify him for hitting a baseball from major league pitcher.

What did Mookie Betts say about Micah Parsons’ claims?

The 25-year-old Parsons not only sounded confident that he could hit a pitch but also asserted that he would average .200 in a Major League Baseball season. For the uninitiated, that is considered below standard for a designated hitter in the big league.

However, both Betts and Semien acknowledged that few hitters have averaged around that mark in MLB. Despite Parsons’ athleticism, Betts disagreed that he could average .200.

Micah, you are a phenomenal athlete, [but there is] no chance you can hit between .180 and .200. You can do a lot of things, and a lot of things successfully, but hitting a baseball is not one of them.

The 31-year-old then mentioned his Dodgers teammate Tyler Glasnow’s take on the matter. Glasnow spoke with Chris Ross on The Chris Ross Rotation podcast that Parsons would only hit 5 times from 500 bats which stands at .010, way below compared to what the Penn State graduate claimed.

Betts stuck to his argument that Parsons can’t hit a single bat. Semien, on the other hand, was much more positive about the edge rusher’s chances. Perhaps playing for teams from the same region, he wanted to sound supportive.

Somebody will tell him to drop down a bunt at least six times out of 500.

Parsons is not an average person, he is a two-time All-Pro with 40+ sacks in three years for the Cowboys. He is easily one of the best athletes in the league, but as Betts mentioned, it will be hard for him to hit from a major league pitcher whose average throwing speed navigates in between 90-100 mph.
