UFC champions having controversial moments are not a rare sight. The current bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili has a history of confronting fans. Recently, he had an altercation at UFC Paris. Now, the champion has found himself in trouble yet again as another altercation occurred. This time, it became one of the talking points of the UFC 310 PPV.
The Georgian fighter and Dana White’s UFC recently clashed over his booking against Umar Nurmagomedov. Drawing comparison with his own arduous journey, he took shots at his rival’s camp. White and Dvalishvili sorted the issue out. However, the champion landed himself in another trouble after getting into a heated altercation with a fan during UFC 310 after Aljamain Sterling’s loss.
Making an effort to capture the 145-pound title, Aljamain Sterling suffered his first loss in the featherweight division after a grueling three round decision. During the walk back from the octagon towards the locker-room, ‘Funk Master’s team got into a fistfight with a fan. The center of attention belonged to the bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili.

During a recent Q & A session with fans, the Georgian star got into a verbal altercation with a Nurmagomedov fan over his rigid stance. After months of verbal back and forth, the fight may be in jeopardy. At UFC 300, Arman Tsarukyan faced a ban for punching a fan. As such, it remains to be seen if Dvalishvili gets a similar ban, putting UFC 311 co-main event in jeopardy.
Dana White could face legal trouble with Merab Dvalishvili after UFC 310 concludes
This isn’t the only time Dvalishvili attempted to confront the fans. The 33-year-old champion once got into an altercation at Craig Jones Invitational in Las Vegas. Fortunately for him, nothing came out of the incident and the UFC champion managed to walk away with just a slap on his wrist.
What really caused the fight to breakout between the fan and Sterling’s camp remains unknown at the moment. Similar to the Arman Tsarukyan situation, Dvalishvili could receive some bad news with fine and a possible suspension. Similarly, if the commission takes a an identical course of action even in this case, things could take a turn for the worse for ‘Young Eagle.’
Dvalishvili has had multiple controversies and the same happened at UFC Paris. The French commission may have decided to let it slide. The Nevada State Athletic Commission has a history of giving out harsh punishment. As such, anything could happen moving forward. So far, the UFC 311 co-main event moves on as planned until NSAC says otherwise.
