Enea Bastianini ‘surpasses’ Valentino Rossi’s milestone following his scintillating victory at the Austin GP

Enea Bastianini leads the MotoGP standings after his win at the Austin GP. The Italian registered his second win of the season but it wasn’t as straightforward as it seems. Enea left if quite late to make a move on Jack Miller but when he decided to that, he just breezed past him with five laps remaining at the Circuit of the Americas. This added to his victory in the season opener in Qatar.
But, he also did something special during the process as he surpassed one of the milestones set by the legend, Valentino Rossi. The record was registering the most number of podiums riding a Desmosedici. Valentino Rossi has achieved that is there to be won in the sport but his stint with Ducati wasn’t as successful when compared to his ridiculous numbers with Yamaha.
The Doctor could only register two podiums with Ducati in his two years with the team, when race wins and podiums were a regular feature in his days with Yamaha. But, still this record was held by him for more than a decade. But, finally, Enea Bastianini stepped to break this record after recording his fourth podium with Ducati in Austin. This also helped him take over the lead of the championship from Alex Rins.

Alex Criville after the race said, “‘The italian had a perfect race and was the one who knew how to manage the race better.“
“Enea also knew how to manage his physique. He attacked when he should have, he held on and in the end he took a shot to leave everyone a little surprised.“
“He did a perfect race read and took his second win of the year.”
“With the triumph in Austin, Bastianini took his fourth podium on a Ducati – first with Esponsorama Avintia and now with Gresini,” as reported by motorcyclesports.
Enea Bastianini has had a a solid start to the season with both his arch rivals Fabio Quartararo and Marc Marquez struggling to find form. This is the perfect situation for him to repeat the heroics of his championship winning season in 2020.
