“It was a shithouse weekend,” Jack Miller still can’t comprehend the reason behind his struggles at the Catalan GP
Jack Miller
Jack Miller, who was at the podium last year here in Catalunya looked out of sorts on that Ducati. It was a terrible weekend from start to finish as he failed to fire up that bike to get anywhere close to likes of Fabio Quartararo. Despite Ducati’s superior top speed and long straight to take full advantage of that, it was an embarrassing performance for the Australian as he finished 30s behind Quartararo.
Having a substandard start to the weekend, Jack Miller was never able to recover. The choice of tyres definitely didn’t help him but there will be a lot of analysis that needs to go into to figure out the reason behind such a terrible performance. The hard tyre was supposed to come into its own in the later half of the race but it never materialized to be that way which made him finish P14.
While Fabio Quartararo and Aleix Espargaro were comfortably putting in 1:40s at the front of the grip, Jack Miller struggled for grip on the front and was even sliding and spinning on the long straights at the Catalan GP. We are used to riders sliding all over going into a braking zone or coming out of a bend but this was pretty bizarre to see and therefore, an autopsy of the result might be required.
Jack Miller expresses his frustration after a horrible performance at the Catalan GP
Jack Miller was at a complete loss of words when asked about his terrible weekend. He said, “Yeah, was a shithouse day to follow up what was this weekend. I tried my maximum from the beginning but to be honest I had nothing on the right-hand side of the tyre from the beginning to the end.”
“So, this is not normal, I don’t understand what happened this weekend with the tyres but we have a big problem, clearly, because one tyre to the other feels completely foreign on the bike.”
“I don’t forget how to ride, I don’t lose my way, the bike we know. Last year I was on the podium here and this year I’m f***ing 30s away without a 1m40s – not one single 1m40s in the whole race,” as reported by motorsport.
Jack Miller was visibly frustrated with that result and especially the performance of his tyres. This is something Ducati will have to look into soon so that they can stop Jack Miller from having a terrible season.
