Moto2 rider Sam Lowes to be replaced by Senna Agius for Austria and San Marino after suffering an injury in Silverstone

Moto 2 rider Sam Lowes has been ruled out of Austria and San Marino after crashing during FP1 in Silverstone. Officials had previously declared that the rider had dislocated his left shoulder during his home race. Further checks revealed that the British motorcycle racer had suffered a fracture on the top of his left humerus bone. With this injury, the 31 year old rider has been in intensive care and is aiming to get back on his bike by the Spanish Moto2 round on 18th September.
The Elf Marc VDS Racing Team will be joined by young Aussie rider Senna Agius for the next two rounds. This is a great opportunity for the rider to get some Moto2 experience under his belt. Aguis who is just 17 years of age had started his racing career riding offroad with motocross and recently shifted to road racing. The Aussie rider has further gone and competed in Asia Talent Cup and the Junior World Championship. The rider had a few thoughts to share about this opportunity.

“Firstly, I’d like to wish Sam a speedy recovery. I would also like to say a huge thank you to the Elf Marc VDS Racing Team for giving me this opportunity to make my debut in the Moto2 World Championship. I can’t wait to get started at the Austrian Grand Prix. This is a big childhood dream of mine and I’m very excited to accomplish it with such an amazing team to learn from. I will give my best to represent the Elf Marc VDS colours,” he said.
Aussie Senna Aguis is currently showing great potential in the European Moto2 championship. He is racing for the PromoRacing Team and is currently third in the championship standings. The 17 year old rider has amassed 6 podiums in 8 rounds and has won in the last two races. This is a testament to the potential that this young rider holds.
