Gresini Racing has locked one spot in their team with the recent signing of Alex Marquez who will continue with the Italian Manufacturer.  Along with this news, it has been understood that the Italian squad has also signed a new deal with Ducati for the next two seasons. This in turn has ended speculations about the squad shifting to satellite bikes for the likes of Yamaha or KTM as both are seeking grid places for the future.

On the other hand, when it comes to Alex Marquez’s contract extension, it seemed just a matter of time before he resigned with the squad. His two seasons with LCR Honda hadn’t helped him get the results that he wanted. On the other hand, it was meant to be when the Spaniard pole and podium in only his second event for Gresini Racing. With Enea Bastianini leaving for the Ducati factory team, Alex seemed like a worthy replacement.

In an interview, here is what he had to say about signing again with Gresini. “I’m very happy to continue with the team,” Marquez said. “I’ve always expressed this desire of mine and when things go the right way it’s even easier to understand each other. To continue together for the next season is key in order to keep growing with this bike, and with this team everything is going to be easier. I would like to thank Nadia first and foremost, and then the whole team who made me feel at home from day one. We’ll keep growing and surprising,” he continued.

Alex Marquez stunned the crown in last week’s Silverstone GP which came after the summer break. The Spaniard went on to win the sprint race held on Saturday. In the main race itself, it seemed like the Spaniard was going to score a podium. However, an early technical problem ruined any chances of that happening. Nevertheless, the whole weekend showed the riders potential leading to more trust within the team.

Alex Marquez is currently ninth in the 2023 MotoGP standings. This season, the driver was ruled out of three races due to accidents and other incidents. Still, it seems like the Spaniard is able to cope well. On the other hand, his brother Marc Marquez has been having a horrific season with Honda so far. It will be interesting to see the progress that the Marquez brothers are able to make in the remaining half of the season.
