“In Barcelona we have the worst traction on the calendar”: Joan Mir discusses lack of traction in Barcelona ahead of next week’s race

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is one of the most-feared tracks on the MotoGP calendar for all the riders of the premier class simply because of one reason. This track offers the least traction to their cars and that makes room for more possibilities of an accident to take place here. And that is why, Joan Mir talks about his strategy for tomorrow’s race, as he wants to score some precious Championship points in Barcelona.

Traction is one of the biggest factors in MotoGP as the heavy motorbikes are very prone to skidding on the tracks if they do not get enough traction. While moving along the turns in the racing circuit, the racers often put a lot of the weight of their bikes on the rear wheel. If the rear wheel skids, then the riders lose balance, and falls backwards.

To avoid such unfortunate incidents, most of the racers will have a different strategy in place for tomorrow’s Barcelona Grand Prix as the MotoGP circus gets ready for the Gran Premi de Catalunya. Suzuki racer Joan Mir says the lack of traction in the Barcelona track urges the racers to come up with different solutions on their own to prevent their bikes from skidding on the Catalan circuit.

For riders like Joan Mir who have already raced many a times in the Circuit de Barcelona-Catelunya before, the Suzuki racer knows how the lack of traction is a major problem that most MotoGP racers face on this track. But he also knows that it is up to the racers how they will solve this problem so that they can get to the top of the standings in order to score some good Championship points for themselves.

Speaking of the upcoming Catalan race, Joan Mir said, “The traction here is really bad. We know that in Barcelona we have the worst traction on the calendar. The rear tyre skids and skids more and more every year.

Joan Mir further continued, “But this is part of the characteristics of this track, it’s up to us to work to make everything work. I hope to see improvements over the weekend, but today there were no improvements at all.”

On Friday, when the racers took to the race track for the first practice run on the track, Joanor came up with the 16th best time on the track–a result that is not expected from the number 36 who is currently 10th in the Championship table.
