“It was different than Jerez”: Joan Mir explained the reason behind his upsetting French GP results

In the Bugatti Circuit in Le Mans, the racers from Ducati performed quite well during the French Grand Prix 2022. While Enea Bastianini got the race win, Jack Miller came second. So, it was a quite joyful evening for the Italian MotoGP team as they got quite a few precious Championship points with a 1-2 race finish.

But it was not a great race for Suzuki as both their riders had to retire from the French Grand Prix after some unfortunate crashes. For Spanish Suzuki racer Joan Mir, who is currently 9th in the MotoGP Championship standings, the Qualifying day on Saturday went quite well as he got a P7 finish.

On Sunday, Joan Mir had an unfortunate crash and he was the second retirement from the French Grand Prix, while his Suzuki teammate Jorge Martin retired from the Le Mans race after complaining that he could not feel the brakes in his car.

Had the Team Suzuki Ecstar racer stayed in the race and not crashed out, he could have improved his starting position to get a podium finish.

When Joan Mir commented on his Le Mans crash, he talked about riding behind three Ducati racers. He said, “I think it’s aerodynamic. You feel less air when you’re behind them. The sensitivity is much worse than with other bikes. There wasn’t a particular problem with the front tyre pressure, just that. But it was different than in Jerez.

The Spaniard also said his Le Mans retirement was because of–“A bit of a mix of things. We probably haven’t had all the luck we need.
