It was fireworks and flames for Pecco Bagnaia on Sunday as he went on to become Ducati’s second riders world champion in 15 years after Casey Stoner in 2007. It was a proud moment for all the Italians and was also a testament to Pecco’s hard work put it all throughout the season to achieve a result like this for the team. After heavy partying on Sunday, it was time for some on track action on Tuesday.

After the season finale in Valencia, a MotoGP test was conducted on Tuesday in the following week for the riders to get a taste of their 2023 challengers. Pecco Bagnaia was among the ones that got to test out next year’s machinery. The Ducati rider went on to try out some new features on his 2023 bike during the test at Valencia. Along with a new fairing, the Italian rider also went on to try out a new engine on his bike.

Here is what the newly crowned MotoGp world champion had to say after his test run at Valencia on Tuesday. “It was just different in the high speed corners, feeling the wind. The ‘horsepower’ on the straights was the same compared to the old one; it was just different in corners like 13 – I was feeling the wind pushing me more. I think it’s different, so you have to adapt the bike to that. We’ll test it again in Malaysia and see if it’s better or not,” he said.

When the topic shifted to the new engine, here is what the Ducati rider had to say about it. “The new prototype that was on the test bench and it was the first time on track. It was running well, but it’s very close to the inside. The Ducati engineers extracted some data and there were no problems; it was working well from the first run,” he concluded.

The 2022 MotoGP season was filled with drama where we got to witness a monstrous title charge by Pecco Bagnaia in the second half of the season where he got the better of title rival Fabio Quartararo multiple times and went on to win the title in style. Yamaha and Fabio will be keen to make up for lost ground and build a bike for 2023 that can actually compete with the Ducati’s on the straights.
