The 1000th MotoGP race was a rather iconic one with Jorge Martin coming second in a Ducati podium lockout. The historical race held at LeMans in France was one filled with drama, crashes and a whole lot of excitement. The race weekend itself saw a record breaking 278,000 spectators coming to witness history being made. And what a race it was.
Mooney VR46 racing team rider Marco Bezzecchi emerged victorious at the 1000th MotoGP race as he went on to dominate. While it came as a surprise, it surely was welcomed by fans and critics alike. On the other hand, Jorge Martin and Johann Zarco went on to sweep the podium spots by finishing second and third respectively. After winning the sprint on Saturday, Martin left the weekend with the most points with 32 compared to Bezzecchi’s 28.
This result meant that Jorge Martin had just taken his first podium of the season with his second place finish at the French GP. While speaking to MotoGP.com, the #89 rider went on to talk about the race and the problems that he had to overcome in order to get this result. Whilst at parc ferme, Martin also went on to talk about his fight with Marc Marquez which could have gone either ways really.

In an interview, here is what Martin had to say. “It was a very tough race for me. At the beginning of the race I almost had a crash with [Luca] Marini, I was in tenth position I think. I saw quite a few crashes, I was quite calm and then I knew it was going to be a big battle when I got to Marquez,” he said. “In the end I did my overtaking in a positive way and closed very well as well. It was a hard race, I had a lot of fun. It’s my first podium of the season, it’s really good and I’m really focused for the next one,” he continued.
After the French GP, Prima Pramac racing has gone on to place in second place in the team’s championship. While Ducati is dominating in the manufacturer’s championship, it’s all thanks to the factory team and the satellite teams. When it comes to the rider’s championship, Pecco Bagnaia still leads with Marco Bezzecchi being just a point away from the lead. Meanwhile, Jorge Martin still has his gloves in the title fight as he is placed 4th in the standings.
