Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez

Marc Marquez and Valentino Rossi have been age old rivals. Their verbal battles off the track along with their battles on the track have made their rivalry the fiercest in MotoGP. In the Honda rider’s book ‘Being Marc Marquez: This Is How I Win My Race’, a new insight has been found regarding the same. Marc Marquez dove back into the incidents that took place during the 2018 Argentine MotoGP round.

There have been multiple collisions between Marc Marquez and Valentino Rossi on the track. One such prominent one is at Argentina in 2018 where Marc knocked off Rossi off his Yamaha. In a book excerpt via Marca, the six time motorbike world champion went on to state that he had considered playing nice and befriending his long standing rival.

Here is what the Repsol Honda rider had stated in the book extract. “He has a lot of fans and it meant antagonising them, but what choice did I have? Being unfaithful to myself? Of course not,” the Spaniard stated. “I hate pretending, being dishonest. For tactical reasons, it would have been better to pretend to be Valentino’s friend, but I’m not like that,” he continued.

After nine rounds have gone by, Marc Marquez has not been able to finish a race  on Sunday. It has mostly been due to crashes and being ruled out of the remaining few races. This has become a serious issue. The Spaniard has been pushing the bikes to the limit in order to extract all their potential. Ducati’s Pecco Bagnaia on the other hand, has been dominating the sport and leads the championship as of now.

Meanwhile, Valentino Rossi is enjoying life away from two wheels as he has switched to four. There have been a fair number of controversial arguments between the two MotoGP legends, with Rossi publicly accusing Marquez of trying to assist Jorge Lorenzo in winning the title in 2015 being the most prominent. Nevertheless, the two racers have the utmost respect for each other despite not being friends.
