Repsol Honda MotoGP rider Marc Marquez has gone on yo state that he will be participating in the 2023 Dutch MotoGP round being held in Assen. He has further gone onto admit that he won’t be able to yield any results, yet he wants to compete. Last time out, the Honda rider had a horrid weekend at the German GP where a plethora of crashes left him in no condition to ride. That same weekend, Marc had crashed 5 times.

The race itself was eventually won by Jorge Martin whilst championship leader Pecco Bagnaia went on to finish second. Meanwhile, Marc’s last crash during the weekend left him with multiple fractures which in turn ruled him out of the German GP. Despite the troubles he is facing, the Spaniard has chosen to race this weekend in Assen. In light of how Honda is performing in recent months, Marc had decided to race with minimal risk.

The Spaniard ended Friday Practice in 19h position which is already a clear sign of his performances over the weekend. However, he has no choice but to ride as the Honda rider is keen on helping the Japanese manufacturer improve its situation. Sitting out for 6 weeks for the summer break after this race just doesn’t make sense for Marc Marquez. Which is why he opted to race this weekend in order to further help with development.

In an interview, here is what he had to say. “In the other weekends, I felt good, I was able to push,” he said on Friday at Assen.
“But this weekend, I didn’t race in Sachsenring because I wasn’t feeling well and I feel pain, and we’re on the bike after four days,” he continued. “So, the body recovered a little bit, but still it’s painful. So, I feel a big limitation there. So, I cannot go for anything this weekend – I can’t
,” he said.

“I mean, I’m competing because I then have one month and a half [off for the summer break].And with the feeling of Sachsenring, to be two months without being on the bike, believe me this is not the best for a rider,” he continued. “So, I need this weekend. For the mental side, I need to keep riding, keep going, and of course when you have difficult moments the motivation is not there,” he stated.

Marc Marquez suffered yet another crash during FP2 while he was pushing for a fast lap. Things aren’t really looking well for Honda in recent times. Alex Rins is the topmost Honda rider in the championship standings whilst being all the way down in 13th place. Meanwhile, Marc Marquez is all the way in the back in 19th position with 15 points to his name. It will be interesting to see what happens next for Marc and Honda.
