Marc Marquez used to be the king of MotoGP once upon a time. His dominance till 2019 was impeccable and made himthe rider to beat. The eight time world champion won his last title in 2019. Ever since then, things have not been going according to the plan for the Spaniard. There have been multiple things that have interrupted Marc’s path towards MotoGP glory.

The Honda rider had to sit out for a while during the 2022 MotoGP season due to fourth operation done on his right arm and the recovery period needed after the operation is done. Although the recovery process went faster than expected which meant that Marc Marquez was medically cleared to ride earlier than expected. However, multiple injuries, crashes and Honda’s lack of development have put the Spaniard in a very difficult position.

In an interview, here is what he had to say. “I was injured, I was empty in races. There were crashes. The rib was broken, the finger broken, the ankle. “I took time to rebuild my body and energy. And I had time to prepare the second half of the season. I’m still not 100%, especially on my right leg. But it’s acceptable to ride the bike,” he said. “Now I feel ready to fight for victories but, for some reason, I am not able to do it. That becomes difficult on the mental side,” he continued.

After 9 rounds have gone by, Marc Marquez has not been able to finish a race  on Sunday. It has mostly been due to crashes and being ruled out of the remaining few races. This has startled to become a serious issue. The Spaniard has been pushing the bikes to the limit in order to extract all their potential. Pecco Bagnaia on the other hand has been dominating the sport and leads the championship as of now.

Marc’s brother Alex Marquez is currently ninth in the 2023 MotoGP standings. This season, the driver was ruled out of three races due to accidents and other incidents. Still, it seems like the Spaniard is able to cope well. On the other hand, Marc Marquez has been having a horrific season with Honda so far. It will be interesting to see the progress that the Marquez brothers are able to make in the remaining half of the season.
