“Some tracks will arrive where I will struggle” : Fabio Quartararo stays humble after back-to-back podium finishes in Portimao and Jerez
Fabio Quartararo
After a blazing finish at the Spanish Motorcycle Grand Prix in Jerez last weekend, current World Championship leader Fabio Quartararo would be expected by the fans to be quite happy with his performance. But the reigning World Champion from France wants to stay alert of his position as the other Yamaha riders seem to be struggling at the back of the pack, and he knows he might fall behind his rivals in some of the circuits as well.
In the recent races that have happened in the MotoGP Championship, Fabio Quartararo has come back in a whole new form after underperforming in the opening few races of this year. When the MotoGP circus moved to Europe for their race in Portimao, Portugal, Quartararo had promised to give his maximum efforts to secure the lead in the Championship standings. He did deliver on his words as the Frenchman took over the first place in the Championship table after he outscored the then Championship leader Enea Bastianini.
After the P1 position in Portugal that led Fabio to the top of the Championship charts, he knew he had to keep up his performance if he wanted to win the much-coveted-for MotoGP World Champion title for a second time in a row. The rider gave it his all and attacked Portimao race leader Francesco Bagnaia on several occasions throughout the race but finally came out with a P2 as he was unable to tackle Bagnaia’s unbreakable defence.
Fabio Quartararo wants to look out for himself in the upcoming races, accepts some GPs might not go well
Current Championship leader Fabio Quartararo wants to stay humble even though he has an upper hand over the other riders when it comes to winning the title as of now. He knows other riders who drive for Ferrari are not experiencing their best forms this season as they are all lagging at the back of the grid.
But the Frenchman only wants to look out for himself at this point as he said, “It’s true that the other Yamahas are struggling quite a lot but at the end this is not my problem. I have already enough to think [about] to be fast with our bike, so… I’m looking for myself.”
While talking about his expectations from the future races in this season, Fabio Quartararo said, “I have to be on the limit everywhere because I know some tracks will arrive where I will struggle, and it’s a reality that we will be struggling like the beginning of the year. But I will be on the limit all the time.”
