Fermin went on to win the  Moto 2 race at the Silverstone circuit. This in fact was bike number 54’s maiden victory.

Fermin Aldeguer took the holeshot at the start and was then followed by Alonso Lopez and Pedro Acosta who were chasing the Spaniard. The first lap of the race itself spewed a lot of drama with Dennis Foggia, Borja Gomez, Rory Skinner and Taiga Hada crashing at turn three and thus retiring form the race. However, it didn’t stop there. Championship contender Jake Dixon crashed out on lap 2 at turn 18.

All the drama continued as Brad Binder’s brother, Darryn was then given a Long Lap after causing the contact that eventually led to Jake Dixon’s heartbreaking crash. Fermin Aldeguer was pushing to the limit and took the lead of the race with five laps to go. From then on, it was a constant battle to keep his position. The Spaniard maintained his pace all through the ending stages and it was sufficient enough.

18 year old Fermin Aldeguer had crossed the line and taken the win at Silverstone on British soil. Canet was second and Acosta third, with Jake Roberts fourth and Manuel Gonzalez coming in fifth place. After his victory lap, Fermin came into the pits to line up his bike in parc ferme. Right then, he celebrated by standing on his bike. A few meters before parc ferme, the Spaniard sat on his bike again and tried to hit the brakes.

Unfortunately, his bike slid due to the mats put down below and the Spaniard crashed into Parc Ferme with the bike. Thankfully, no one was injured. Such incidents have also been observed in the premier class on MotoGP. While Fermin won the Moto 2 race, Sunday’s main MotoGP race was won by Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro. First wins are always a special moment and it’s something that the Spaniard will remember fondly.
