This will be Nadal’s first match in almost 4 months. He suffered a foot injury during the North American swing and was hence ruled out for remainder of the season. Prior to that, he didn’t have a great season according to his high standards. He made it to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open where he lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas despite being 2 sets up.
He then was once again unbeatable on Clay and won two titles- Barcelona Open and Rome Masters before losing to Novak Djokovic in the semifinal of French Open. After that, his season was more or less hampered by injuries.
As for Andy Murray, he is slowly and steadily rising up the ranks. He didn’t have the best start to the season but has been consistent since Wimbledon.
