This will be Nadal’s first match in almost 4 months. He suffered a foot injury during the North American swing and was hence ruled out for remainder of the season. Prior to that, he didn’t have a great season according to his high standards. He made it to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open where he lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas despite being 2 sets up.

He then was once again unbeatable on Clay and won two titles- Barcelona Open and Rome Masters before losing to Novak Djokovic in the semifinal of French Open. After that, his season was more or less hampered by injuries.

As for Andy Murray, he is slowly and steadily rising up the ranks. He didn’t have the best start to the season but has been consistent since Wimbledon. He has played almost every week post Wimbledon in order to push himself on fitness terms. He made it to the third round at the AELTC before losing to Denis Shapovalov on centre court.

In the first round of US Open, he pushed third seed Stefanos Tsitsipas to five sets. He also then reached the quarterfinal at Metz and defeated Carlos Alcaraz to make it to the third round of Indian Wells Masters. He ended his season with a quarterfinal outing at Stockholm.
