When it comes to couples in sports, Roger Federer and his wife Mirka Federer have set the bar high. In a recent episode of the ‘What Now’ podcast, host Trevor Noah expressed his awe of the Swiss maestro’s relationship and chemistry with his wife.

Federer was all praise for his wife, who was also a tennis player. He had nudged his wife to retire early in her career after she struggled with many injuries. However, Mirka’s legacy did not end there as she traveled the world and stood by her husband while he built an extraordinary career.

In the podcast, Federer jokingly compared his retirement to his wife’s. He said that while she did not make a huge fuss about her retirement, his was a long drawn-out process. He also thanked his wife for her support in his career, especially in the second half when she had to manage the logistics and their children to allow him to compete at his best.

She just went like ‘okay I’m done, what’s the big deal?’ Here I am like it’s the biggest deal in the world to retire. I make it so emotional, I love the game so much. She does too but I think she loved the tour through my career and the travels, and logistics. It’s like being my rock really through thick and thin.
