Austin Dillon breaks silence on mega $100,000 fine over Martinsville race manipulation
Richard Childress Racing veteran Austin Dillon has given his verdict on the mega penalty he got over the Martinsville race manipulation.

The 2024 NASCAR Cup season one of the most controversial races of the year at Martinsville. The race established the championship-4 line-up, with the disqualification of Christopher Bell and alleged race manipulation. 23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace, Trackhouse Racing’s Ross Chastain and Richard Childress Racing’s Austin Dillon were severely penalized by NASCAR for their actions.
The trio were fined a whopping $100,000 and also saw a reduction of 50 drivers and owners’ points, which is going to hurt their final payout. There crew chief and senior team executive was also suspended for the last race of the season. This put Wallace, Chastain and Dillon in a tough situation for the finale.
Now RCR’s No:3 Chevy driver whose “deal” comment regarding helping William Byron by allegedly blocking the field. Dillon’s team appealed the decision, but the court turned them down siting integrity of the sport. Now the experienced driver has now broken his silence on the matter and defended his actions.

While further talking about the topic, Dillon asserted that he was hard defensively last Sunday purely because of selfish reasons. He pointed out that he blocked the drivers behind him, as he was focused on his own race and didn’t want to lose his positions.
But considering the circumstances during the race=, it can easily be established that Dillon isn’t telling the full truth. The Chevy drivers had the primary goal of doing everything they can to make sure Byron gets into the championship-4, and their positions wasn’t the main concerns.
