The NASCAR Cup Series race this weekend at Daytona International Speedway is going to be interesting, with multiple bubble driver determined to go all out for the win that could earn them a spot in the playoff. Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman is the driver under the most pressure coming to the race, as he is the driver on the cut-off line.

Alex Bowman was the only driver to not win a race in the 2025 season in the Hendrick Motorsports garage, as his teammates Kyle Larson, regular season champion William Byron and Chase Elliott have already won the title, as is in the trop-5 in terms of point scored. This factor is going to influence the Chevy team’s strategy for the whole race.

But according to the No:48 driver, it won’t be that simple as it’s not as easy as it seems for the three HMS car to push Bowman to win. Daytona is always a race where luck and outside factors dictate what happens every lap and regardless of the plans, a handful of things would be in the control of the drivers at the venue.

If it was that simple, every three-car or four-car team would get their guy in every year, and it never happens that way. There’s a lot of different things that can happen and it’s a long race with a lot of things that are totally outside of your control.

Further talking about the point, the eight times Cup race winner asserted that all four Hendrick Motorsports driver would have similar plans, considering if one of the four wins, Bowman is in the playoff. They will be doing everything possible together, controlling what they can during the race, hoping for the best.

I don’t think our plan is any different. You’re going to see us pit together. That’s what we do every year. We’re going to work together when we can, and when we can’t, we won’t. I’d be shocked if at any point in the race you see three Hendrick Chevys lined up behind me, pushing. I don’t think this style of racing works that way or gives us a position to even do that anymore.

Kyle Larson explains how Alex Bowman affects their Daytona race strategy

In a separate conversation, Hendrick Motorsports’ 2021 Cup Series champion Kyle Larson has explained how he will help his teammate Alex Bowman to make it into the playoffs. With three wins already to his name, the No:5 Chevy driver is in a good spot. But Daytona being a track he hasn’t won yet, might make him bit selfish to go for the win.

The veteran pointed out that his major priority for the weekend is to make sure they will do everything in order to get Bowman to the playoffs. The positive factor that gives them an advantage is that all four of them can fight for the wins, and regardless of whoever won, the No:48 driver will be in the playoffs.

Keeping Alex in mind is the main priority. But the good thing with it is he can still make it on points, so if any Hendrick guys win, he’s good. So that makes it easy on all of us. But we’re not going to be selfish in that.

The comments from the Chevy driver shows the three HMS cars are determined to get their teammate into the playoffs. It would be interesting to see how everything is going playout for the Chevy giants in the coming years.
